SEOUL, July 1, 2022 – Hyundai Motor Company today announced its June 2022 global sales of 340,534 units, a 5.2-percent increase from the previous month and a 4.5-percent decrease year over year.
In markets outside of Korea, Hyundai Motor sold a total of 281,024 units, a 7.9-percent increase from May and a 2.5-percent year-on-year decrease. Despite global component shortage issues and the lockdown of several cities in China due to the ongoing pandemic, the sales of global markets have recovered steadily this year.
Sales in Korea were down by 13 percent year-on-year to 59,510 units. However, the company maintained solid sales for SUV models and the Genesis luxury brand, which sold 20,006 units and 11,208 units, respectively.
Amid unfavorable external conditions, including ongoing components shortages and cost fluctuations of raw materials, Hyundai is solidifying its position as a global electric vehicle (EV) leader, selling approximately 19,000 units in June, an over 30-percent increase from a year earlier. The company has sold approximately 100,000 EVs in the global market so far this year.
Hyundai Motor will make an effort to alleviate business uncertainties by optimizing production and inventory status and diversifying business strategies tailored for each region.
